After months of preparation the 20 excited finalists for Honda Quest 2017 finally arrived in Windhoek, the Namibian capital, on Monday the 4th of September. Most of the crew and support staff drove up from South Africa with a convoy of support vehicles required to handle the logistics of such an event in very remote areas.
On Tuesday they embark on the adventure of a lifetime, when they will fire up their Honda CRF 1000L Africa Twins and head for the Kaokoland and Damaraland in the north of Namibia.
Their first overnight stop is at the imposing Spitzkoppe, where they will learn who will make up the ten teams of two each during a night time ceremony.
The next morning, they will head north further into terrain that, for the next 11 days and 2500km, will test their resolve to the limit.
Honda Quest will not only require good off-road riding skills from the 20 participants, but also teamwork, mental strength, intelligence and a true sense of adventure.
The Quest contestants will arrive back in Windhoek on Friday the 15th of September, after which the winning team will be announced. Each member of the winning team will become the proud owner of the Honda Africa Twin on which they competed.
But between now and then, there’s an epic adventure that lies ahead.
